After graduating from the Naval Academy, I spent seven years in the submarine service serving on a fast attack submarine during the Cold War and as an instructor at the Naval Academy, and then spent 25 years in manufacturing and consulting. I was married for 25 years before my wife died in 2010, and I have two sons and a daughter in law.
I am attracted to the priesthood because I want to give my life totally to God in service to His people, in ways that I cannot do so as a lay person.
One of my favorite Scripture passages is Phil 2:3-4, “Do nothing from selfishness or conceit, but in humility count others better than yourself. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.”
One of my favorite saints is St. Martin of Tours who served a short time in the Roman army, had a heart for the poor, and was a great evangelist.
